So it begins, I'm packing again. It's my last weekend in Pensacola, and words cannot explain how much I've been enjoying my time with Kainoa. I've concluded that we could be in the middle of nowhere (well we kind of are..) are still have fun. As excited as I am to start this amazing trip, I'm dreading leaving Kainoa again. We haven't actually been able to hang out for this long since he left for basic training last August and I almost forgot what it was like to just be around each other. I think it's something other people probably take for granted, but just eating together every night, watching tv, or even doing different stuff in each others' presence is really nice. During the week he still has to study at night, so I'll do something for my trip and even though we aren't really doing anything together it feels really nice to just have him around everyday. I almost forgot how much he makes me laugh.
The best part about staying for so long is that it gives us a chance to get past the rush of one weekend and actually just become a part of each others' lives again. Usually we only see each other for such a short amount of time that it feels like a break from normal life. It was really weird seeing Kainoa in such a different environment. Last weekend we went to his class's BBQ, which was actually pretty fun. The food was pretty good and I don't think I've ever seen grown men have that much fun throwing bags into a hole haha (Cornhole...what a name for a game). We hitched a ride with one of Kainoa's classmates and his fiance, and we ended up going with a group back to their apartment after the BBQ. They have a pool in their building and a 3D TV. Playing videogames on that was pretty nuts. It was really fun to just kinda play house for the last 2 weeks and actually socialize as a couple (something we've never really done). I'm sad to see the trip end, but it makes me even more excited for when we can finally be together like this all the time once I graduate from USF :)
So I'll spare you more talk of all this mushy love business, here's an update on my trip...
I signed up for textfree on my phone, so whenever I have WiFi, I should be able to send/receive texts. The number for that is 1-415-322-3225 (weirdly similar to my actual cell number). If any of you want postcards or personal emails while I'm gone send me your address/email. I'm going to try to update this at least once per port.
I've finalized plans with 2 other girls (Sam and Lyndsi) to fly to Ibiza for 2.5 days while I'm in Spain. We're trying to budget in a day on the party boat, but if not we still have flights booked and a hotel on the beach so it's going to be fun either way ;) I've been talking to the girls for the last couple weeks and it's cool that I'm going to already "know" some people on the ship. One of them is even going on the same field trip to Montserrat with me our first day in Spain!
So far everything about this summer has been so unreal and I can't even believe that it's actually happening. I've been talking about going on Semester at Sea since I was in high school and it's finally going to be real. I'm so blessed to live the life that I do, and if the rest of the summer stays this amazing it'll be one that I'll remember forever. Only way it could get any better is if Kainoa could come with me. If only we could be in two places at once :P
